A. What Is a Stock Item?
A stock item (inventory item) is one catalog Product Item (SKU) tracked inside a stock pool. Catalog fields (name, SKU, barcode, price) come from the Product service; this record holds quantities, cost, tracking, dimensions, and optional bin placement.
Open a stock item from:
- A stock pool’s Items table
- Inventory Setup after Finish
- Product item detail → Create inventory item
- Search or barcode scan
You can open a printable placard and the per-item ledger from detail.
Item lifecycle status on the line includes available, reserved, quarantined, damaged, expired, in_transit.
B. Creating a Stock Item
Paths
- Inventory > Setup — Location → Storage → Bins → Catalog → Stock details → Review → Allocate bins (after create)
- Stock pool detail / form — create item and choose catalog + pool
- Product Item detail → Create inventory item — product and SKU prefilled

Auto on save if left blank: batch BATCH-YYYYMMDD-XXXXXX, lot LOT-YYYYMMDD-XXXXXX, placard barcode PL-…. Serial is never auto-generated; when a serial is set, quantity is treated as 1.
Review (in Setup) shows storage, catalog, quantities, commerce, tracking, and dimensions before create.
C. Detail — Quantities

Indicators include low stock, out of stock, and expiring soon (expiry within ~30 days).
D. Stock Levels

F. Commerce and Dimensions
Unit cost, currency, last counted/received/issued timestamps (when recorded), and item dimensions in cm.
G. Allocations (Bins)
Distribute on-hand quantity across physical locations in the same pool:
- Allocate — choose bin and quantity
- Update or remove allocations as needed
- Bin transfer — move quantity between bins without changing total on hand
Total allocated cannot exceed on hand (per system rules).
H. Operations (from item detail)
The Operations card (permission-gated) creates documents with this pool and SKU locked:

Same-pool bin transfer stays on the allocations card (dialog), not as a warehouse shortcut.
I. Reserve and Release
Reserve commits available quantity (reason/notes as required by the dialog). Release returns reserved quantity to available.
J. Item Placard / PDF
From stock item detail, open Placard to view/print a label (product name, SKU, barcodes, qty, batch/lot/serial, dimensions as available).
K. Activity / Ledger
Open the item ledger for dated movements (type, quantity change, references). Transaction types use consistent type indicators in the app.
